Nine Months In - And We’re Just Getting Started

On June 2nd, 2025, I announced my candidacy for Sparks City Council, Ward 2.
Exactly nine months later - to the day - on March 2nd, 2026, I formally filed.
That timing wasn’t planned for symbolism, but it feels appropriate. Campaigns are about building something - nurturing it, strengthening it, preparing it to stand on its own; this is about more than me. What started as a conviction has grown into a movement of neighbors and community members who believe Sparks can do better.
This race is a marathon. And we are right in the middle of it.
Marathons require discipline. They require endurance. They require steady pacing when it would be easier to sprint early or quit when things get difficult. Over the past nine months, we’ve visited homes (almost 3,000 of them), hosted meet-and-greets, built coalitions, listened to concerns, and had honest conversations about the direction of our city. We’ve faced challenges, but we’ve kept moving forward.
What keeps me going are the people.
Recently, a young supporter named Ellie wrote me a handwritten letter comparing me to Alexander Hamilton. I don’t pretend to deserve a comparison like that - but I do take seriously what it represents. Young people are watching. They are paying attention. They are forming opinions about leadership, service, and integrity.
We are not just managing a city budget or debating ordinances. We are shaping the Sparks and the Northern Nevada that Ellie and her generation will inherit, and subsequently her children’s generation, and her grandchildren’s generation - I will die one day - we all will - but Sparks will continue to exist just as it has for the past 122 years.
We all have a responsibility to be good stewards of Sparks and our wider community - not just for today, but for the next generation.
That’s what this campaign is about.
If you believe in that mission, there are several ways you can help:
1. Contribute financially.
We are currently working to raise an additional $10,000 to cover printing, postage, and other advertising costs. Every dollar goes toward communicating directly with voters in Ward 2 and making sure our message reaches households across the community. You can visit my Financial Transparency Dashboard and read by three commitments on how I handle campaign funds.
2. Donate professional services.
If you’re an attorney, a social media professional, or have another skill that can support the campaign, your expertise can make a real difference.
3. Host an event.
Living room conversations are powerful. If you’d be willing to host a small gathering of friends or neighbors - especially in Ward 2 - I would love to come share the vision and answer questions directly.
4. Host a yard or business sign.
If you live in Ward 2, or near Ward 2, displaying a sign at your home or business shows visible community support and helps build momentum.
5. Amplify the message.
Share posts. Comment. Start conversations. Word of mouth remains one of the most effective ways to grow a grassroots campaign.

This campaign has never been about me. It has always been about us - about accountability, transparency, and putting people first. It’s about doing better. It’s about thoughtful decision-making, open dialogue, and making sure residents have a real voice in the future of Sparks.
Nine months in, we’re stronger than ever.
Thank you to everyone who has donated, volunteered, hosted, endorsed, written letters, sent encouragement, or simply taken the time to have a conversation. Your belief in this effort means more than you know.
The marathon continues. And together, we’re going to finish strong.
