Hunter Rand Condemns Political Violence: Calls for Unity in Sparks and Beyond

Today’s events in Utah, along with those we witnessed in Minnesota this past June, are painful reminders of a truth we must confront: there is no place for political violence in the United States. Each act of violence deepens our divisions and weakens the very fabric of our democracy. Political violence is reprehensible, unacceptable, and has no justification.

I firmly believe in the First Amendment - the right to speak freely, to protest, and to be heard. But what we saw today was not protest; it was an attack on the very freedoms that protect our voices and our democracy.

Our communities deserve better. We must choose unity over division, dialogue over hostility, and love over hate. Building a brighter future begins with civil discourse, with neighbors standing together, and with a commitment to reject hate in all its forms. Sparks, Ward 2, Nevada, and America as a whole must be places where we lift each other up, not tear each other down.
